Signed paperback. Romantasy retelling of The Beauty and The Beast.

A beastly prince. A cursed land. One last hope.

Breaking his bargain with another fae has earned Revi, Prince of the Winter Court, a terrible curse: he lives as a beast and must watch his people suffer under a withering blight. The only cure? A heart freely given.

When a human patrol steals one of Revi’s magical roses, a sliver of opportunity strikes. He agrees to spare their lives in return for a woman who must live in his castle for a year and a day. But could such a beauty learn to love a beast like him?

Although Kienna was warned of conniving fae before her arrival at the Winter Court, the Winter Prince, while beastly, is not the monster she expected. Her dreams plague her—or more specifically, the enigmatic silvery man who walks them does. She’s determined to find him in the waking world and free him from his imprisonment.

Her dream prince begs her not to trust her eyes. But… can she trust her heart?

The Winter Prince, a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, is a clean fairy tale retelling standalone featuring a swoony fae prince fighting for his happily ever after.

This is such a clever Beauty and the Beast retelling! I loved seeing the parts that were familiar to me because of the fairytale, and it was entertaining to read the different twists that Constance Lopez employed to make it her own unique story. The setting is perfect! Where I live in Texas doesn’t get snow very often (there are usually years between snowfalls), so I love experiencing winter through stories! The descriptions in this book made me feel as though I were right there with the characters, and it made me want to curl up with a comfy blanket while I read. I loved the character development in this book! Revi and Kienna are so well written, and I loved seeing them grow throughout the story. I also really liked Enlo, and I’m hoping he gets his own story at some point. The ending made me so happy! I loved how it all turned out, and the twists of the story were entertaining and kept me glued to the page. I always enjoy fairytale retellings, and Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorites. I loved this retelling, and I highly recommend it! I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Well talk about getting right to it! A promise not kept, a curse proclaimed sets the tone for an exciting read, one that I just HAD to know more of. A perfect Beauty and the Beast retelling! One couldn't get a more surly or arrogant character! Revi fits it to a T! Although, he's got a heart of gold so hidden, you have to wade through refuse to get to it! And Kienna is by no means meek and mild, hells bells, she's got spunk! She's got sass! So when she "agrees" to spend a year and a day in the Winter Court, Revi has his work cut out for him! His well meaning cousin, Enlo, decides to take matters into his own hands, oh glory, what a.... disaster! What a....@#@#!!!!!! I REALLY wanted to go scream at him! The uncertainty Revi feels, the disgust he has for himself, of what he did and what he is now, just makes me want to crawl into the book and ease his pain. The relationship between him and Kienna is adorable, and humourous, and so sweet, I just loved it. But gracious me, when Revi realises what is important, what he's willing to sacrifice for love.....Oh Revi! Revi, Revi, Revi! When he granted Kienna her wish, I honestly had tears in my eyes.... everything he's done, EVERYTHING, is for her. Swallowing furiously, I barely got through the next few pages, they kept blurred up. So succinctly does Ms Lopez bring these characters to life, so succinctly does she cast her spell with her outstanding prose, the vividry of the world she exposes for us and the anguish her characters feel, we feel it all too! My heart was galloping like a stampede of Bisson, thundering madly. OMG! The drama! OMG! The tension! OMG! The action! OMG! The betrayal! Yep, thundering heart! How do you take a very well known fairytale and breath a newness to it? How is it possible to achieve this without losing the essence of the story? Well, let me tell you, Ms Lopez not only kept the essence, not only did she imbue a newness to this tale, she took it out to the stratosphere! All of her books, and I'm proud to say I had the pleasure of reading them all, are a unique blend of magic, compassion, relatable characters in settings that boggle the mind. The freshness of her approach to any story she produces, is a literary gourmet delight! And this one is no exception, I'm hooked in from the first sentence, my gullet willingly swallowing not only the hook but the line and sinker too. Like the expert she is, she reels me in and releases the reel over all the bumps, never breaking the line as I navigate through a myriad of twists in her expert hands. And no matter what I go through, the vein of hope and love is constant, it's like a comfortable friend holding my hand right to the gorgeous HEA at the end. So, with a heaving but happy sigh, I say, if you want to experience this too, READ THIS BOOK!

You know when you're reading a dark book and just need a hug? This book is that hug! This book is absolutely amazingly wonderful! All the good words. I love how this retelling truly focuses on the prince. (Slight SPOILER ahead.. but it *is* a Beauty and the Beast retelling 🤷🏻‍♀️) It felt like his familial relationship with his cousin was a center point almost as much as his budding relationship with the FMC, making this book incredibly unique. As always with Constance's books, I'd classify this as "cozy peril". It didn't feel quite as cozy as her other Kasmia books, but somehow she always infuses so much coziness and comfort into every book she writes, even if it's not technically "cozy fantasy". I can see myself reading this one over and over again. It's absolutely one of the best Beauty and the Beast retellings I've ever read, and I highly recommend it!
