This is an awesome romantic fantasy, and I absolutely loved it! With themes of revenge and forgiveness, characters with amazing development, and an intriguing plot, this is a book I couldn’t put down! The theme of forgiveness versus seeking revenge was written so well in this book. I highlighted so many beautiful lines relating to it! I also appreciated how the romance developed; enemies to more is my favorite trope, and I loved the tension it added to the story! Really this book has it all: clean romance, a lost heir, magic, elves, royalty, assassins, a great friendship between the prince and his mage, and an enemies to more romance! I loved everything about this book! This is also a standalone in a series, which is great because there was no cliffhanger; I am looking forward to the next book because I can’t wait to read more in this world.

This book has been in my TBR library for a long time and after the first chapter, I was asking myself WHY?? Why didn't I read it sooner? By the end of the book, I was ready to kick myself, if that were possible, on having it available for countless months and not getting to it! Right off the bat it captured me, with Riona the MC, a maid who isn't a maid! Immediately it peaked my interest, I needed to find who she really was and what her agenda was and I gobbled it up! And though I was expecting her to be a spy or something along those lines, I was NOT expecting her to be who she really was! The intrigue got hitched up by quite a few notches! What an MC! What a divine character, although, I do think Tristin has a notch up on her in my estimation, Tristin is sheer heaven as a character, strong, very clear minded, very compassionate, very honourable, the ideal package, who with his best friend Liam tries to balance his evil father. Liam, hmmmm, Liam, now that's an enigma, as is Isa. Both have some secret I can feel dying to come out, I can't wait to find out what. I love it when expectations of a certain person are thrown out the window, which is exactly what happened to Riona. Shaped and manipulated by a spiteful, vengeful aunt, Riona seeks revenge for the despicable deeds of a despicable King. She had bitterness and contempt for the King and Prince Tristin, justifiably so, except that Tristin was the antithesis of who she thought he was, much to her chagrin and confusion. Her conundrum persists the more time she spends with Tristin and then, OMG, and then there is such a twist that had my jaw not been affixed to me, it would have literally dropped into my lap! All to the tune of "No Riona! Don't do it!" One bombshell after another, I was dodging like crazy to evade the shrapnel but it lacerated me in disbelief none the less. One cannot choose ones parents and Tristin is no exception. Although in his case, Tristin is torn between duty and disgust at his father. King Padrig is brutal, he's power hungry and sees Tristan as weak. The author gave such a superb account of his vile character, it ignited a ball of sheer hatred in me. I love the complexity of the plot and characters, the way they wrap themselves around one like s comfortable blanket. This book has so much to offer, trust, misplaced trust, lies, greed, manipulation, loss, despair and ultimately hope. Loved it!

Cean romantic fantasy with adventure, intrigue, and questions of who exactly can be trusted 👀 Of Stormlarks and Silence is a fantastic debut. A sweet and agonizing tale of enemies to lovers. Riona (an orphaned princess) has sworn revenge on the royal house who killed her parents and so many of her people. She’ll kill the king and his heir. She’s prepared her whole life for it, and finally has the chance to destroy these two evil men. Until her plans work better than expected and she meets Prince Tristan himself, who turns out to be nothing like she expected. I loved both points of view of the story, both Riona’s struggle between finding revenge for what was stolen from her, and her growing understanding that her enemy is not who she thought he was, and Tristan’s agonizing attempts to be his own man under the cruel, smothering thumb of his father. The overarching theme of forgiveness is strong in this story, but dealt with in a very genuine way. Forgiveness isn’t easy, and it doesn’t come quickly. I also love that there are several other characters I want to explore more, and I know the future books in this series are focused on them (each book is a standalone in the same world.) I’m looking at you, Liam, and waiting to see your story next. If you like clean romantic fantasy with great characters, fun adventures, layers of intrigue, and questions of who exactly can be trusted, grab a copy and join the growing fan club of the Kasmian world

In summary: since the death of her parents at the hands of the Revonian leader King Padrig, Princess Riona has been raised for a singular purpose...get close to the Revonian royal family and make sure the King and his only heir, Prince Tristan, are eliminated. Unfortunately, when your target is not only extremely handsome, and also nothing like you imagined him to be, matters of the head and heart come into conflict. When you throw in magic, elves, and the prince's extremely loyal, somewhat overprotective, and incredibly snarky best friend, "complicated" doesnt even begin to describe the ride. Riona isn't just a beautiful and deadly viper, though, she is cunning. When she decides to listen to her heart but also use her head, she is able to create a deal to not only save her people of Makaria, but also save her own soul and win the heart of the handsome prince. I fell madly in love with Tristan. Despite being raised by a tyrant, or perhaps because of it, he is a truly good person, who cares deeply for his family and friends (which includes my other favorite character, Mage Liam Galway...more about him in another review!). He knows what kind of person his father is, and he is haunted by the ghosts of his past, but he wants to do everything in his power to make things right. Like, how sexy is that?!? 😍 If you're looking for political intrigue, action, magic, and romance without being completely overwhelmed by darkness or smut, Constance has you covered.

Update: I just finished the audiobook as my 4th or 5th read-through of this. I've lost count, but the audiobook was absolutely PERFECT!! I don't know how I'll ever get through the rest of my audio library now because I'm so tempted to just listen to this on repeat for the rest of my life (or at least until the next book has audio available, haha). Literal perfection!!! This was a super good, very well written, sweet and mostly cozy story! The characters were fantastically written, and I absolutely loved their growth throughout the story. I love the friendship between Tristan and Liam. It really reminded me of Arthur and Merlin's friendship (in the show, Merlin). The ending couldn't have been more perfect. I'll definitely be reading the short stories and anything else that comes out in this series!
